OB/GYN is pleased to announce the appointment of Deslyn Hobson, M.D., as the new Vice-Chair of Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion

Dr. HobsonI am pleased to announce the appointment of Deslyn Hobson, M.D. as the new Vice-Chair of Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion for the Department of Obstetrics and Gynecology at Wayne State University School of Medicine. She replaces Dr. Nardhy Gomez-Lopez, who served in the role prior to leaving for a position at Washington University in St. Louis.

Dr. Deslyn Hobson brings a wealth of experience and expertise to this important role. She has been a part of our faculty since 2019 when she joined as an Assistant Professor in the Department of Obstetrics and Gynecology. Throughout her tenure at Wayne State University School of Medicine, Dr. Hobson has displayed dedication and commitment to our mission of providing exceptional education, clinical care, and research in the field of Obstetrics and Gynecology.

Dr. Hobson's academic and professional background is truly remarkable. She completed her M.D. at the Medical University of the Americas and received her B.S. in Biology/Premedicine from Murray State University. Dr. Hobson continued her education "at home" by pursuing a Residency in Obstetrics & Gynecology here at Wayne State University School of Medicine, followed by a Fellowship in Female Pelvic Medicine & Reconstructive Surgery at the University of Louisville School of Medicine.

Her commitment to patient care is evident through her active clinical practice and board certifications in Female Pelvic Medicine & Reconstructive Surgery and Obstetrics and Gynecology. Dr. Hobson has been recognized for her excellence as a healthcare professional and has received numerous awards and honors, including the College Teaching Award, Teaching Honor Roll, and the Excellence in Minimally Invasive Gynecologic Surgery Award.

Dr. Hobson is an active member of various professional societies, including the American College of Obstetricians & Gynecologists, the American Urogynecologic Society, and the American Association of Gynecologic Laparoscopists. Her involvement in these organizations highlights her dedication to staying current with the latest advancements in the field and contributing to the broader community of healthcare professionals.

As Vice-Chair of Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion, Dr. Hobson will play a pivotal role in advancing these important initiatives within the Department of Obstetrics and Gynecology. Her passion for promoting diversity and equity, combined with her medical expertise, makes her the ideal candidate for this role.
