Dr. Kara Patek, a recent fellowship graduate, is the newest member of the Maternal Fetal Medicine division in the Department of Obstetrics and Gynecology at Wayne State University School of Medicine. She spends half of her time in the Fetal Care Center at the Detroit Medical Center and is excited to be a part of the team where, together with the Pediatric sub-specialists at CHM, multidisciplinary collaboration allows provision of the most up-to-date, evidence-based, and compassionate patient care for pregnant patients and their fetuses. Dr. Patek has particular interest in first trimester fetal ultrasound, the provision of obstetric interventions at the cusp of neonatal viability, and development of local obstetric policy and protocol. She is also an investigator at the DMC sites in an upcoming Michigan state-wide study which will enroll patients to evaluate the standardization of preterm birth and pre-eclampsia prevention strategies. Dr. Patek is passionate about caring for and empowering the patients of Southeastern Michigan who are facing pregnancy complications.
