DMC/WSU offers a board- approved combined 4-year Maternal-Fetal Medicine (MFM) Fellowship and Medical Genetics and Genomics Residency training program. Physicians who have completed an ACGME-accredited residency in Obstetrics and Gynecology and who meet all requirements for participation as a MFM fellow and a medical genetics and genomics resident are eligible to apply to this program. The program prepares trainees who complete their training to be eligible for certification in Maternal-Fetal Medicine by the American Board of Obstetrics and Gynecology and in Clinical Genetics by the American Board of Medical Genetics and Genomics.

Training in MFM and Medical Genetics and Genomics includes didactic teaching, hands-on clinical experience and use of written material and computerized educational resources. During MFM rotations, trainees are provided education in high-risk pregnancy management, ultrasonography, invasive ultrasound-guided techniques, maternal fetal physiology, genetics and teratology, infectious disease, neonatology, obstetrical anesthesia, critical care, and perinatal pathology. During genetics rotations, the trainee is exposed to patients of all ages with varying conditions.  The trainee will rotate through general genetics clinics, reproductive genetics, cancer genetics, and laboratory genetics.  This is a typical four-year schedule.
