Maternal-Fetal medicine division
The Wayne State University Department of Obstetrics and Gynecology has been an internationally recognized academic center in women's health and child development for more than 50 years. The Department is committed to improving the health and well-being of women, infants, and families of Southeast Michigan and the surrounding areas.
The Division of Maternal-Fetal Medicine is comprised of faculty members who are recognized for making seminal contributions to our discipline, and providing expert evaluation and highly specialized care to women with high-risk and complicated pregnancies. Clinical care includes providing pre-conceptional and prenatal consultation, as well as performing advanced techniques such as:
- Obstetrical ultrasonography
- Antepartum fetal health assessment
- Amniocentesis
- Fetal echocardiography
- Doppler assessment of the mother and fetus
MFM physicians are available for consultation 24 hours a day and provide Labor and Delivery services at Hutzel Hospital. The education and training of MFM Fellows are an integral part of the Division's mission.
