Message from the Program Director
The Detroit Medical Center/Wayne State School of Medicine Obstetrics & Gynecology
Residency Program trains mission-driven reproductive health specialists committed to serving patients with excellence and compassion. Our program reflects the resilient, innovative spirit of Detroit and our dedication to caring for all patients.
Each year, we welcome 10 new residents into our program family. While many graduates pursue fellowship training, our primary goal as a residency is preparing practice-ready obstetrician-gynecologists who provide comprehensive, evidence-based, patient-centered care. We accomplish this by exposing our residents to academic, community, and Veterans Affairs hospitals as well as faculty in Maternal-Fetal Medicine, Gynecologic Oncology, Minimally Invasive Surgery, Family Planning, and Ob/Gyn specialists with varied areas of focus.
Our educational program emphasizes hands-on learning through diverse clinical experience, didactic curricula, and simulation training that prepares residents for real-world practice. Residents participate in interdisciplinary collaboration projects, quality improvement initiatives, and advocacy. Our robust research programs span basic science, clinical investigations, and community health initiatives, offering residents multiple pathways to advance reproductive health care. But the greatest strength of our program lies in our residents who are passionate, dedicated individuals who embody our commitment to high-quality patient care.
Thank you for your interest; we look forward to sharing more with you about our program.
